1 antique World War II Japanese Army Samurai Officer’s gendai shin-gunto sword. This sword was made by Kaneyoshi. This fine World War II Japanese Army Officer’s katana would make an important addition to any collection.
This sword has the rare hot stamp indicating the blade was made with a ‘new’ method of construction–the Kobuse method of construction.
According to page 65 of Slough’s book, this stamp reads ‘Jitsu yo shinan toroku, Dai nichi ichi roku go ku go, Hotetsu tanren toin’. This translates in English to “Registration of new utility design, Item number ______, Wrapped steel (Kobuse method of construction) forged sword-stamp“.
This sword was signed by Kaneyoshi. This sword has a desirable wavy temper line.
The tsuba is Heianjo from the 1600’s A.D.
The blade measures 26 3/16″ (66.5 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.

1 antique Japanese Samurai pole yari. This Koto period Yari is signed ‘Minamoto Nobukuni Heishiro Yoshimasa‘. This fine yari spearpoint would make an important addition to any collection.
This yari was brought back by a G.I. after World War 2. A wood surrender tag with the former owner’s name is attached to the pole. In addition, the pole was cut down (like most were) so it could fit in the G.I.’s duffel bag.
This fine yari has a sanscrit horimono. This is a fine feature on a Samurai yari. This yari measures 14 1/2″ including the nakago. The point itself measures 5 1/8″. The pole, even though cut, has 5 fine pole fittings remaining.

The blade measures 6 3/4″ (17.1 cm) from blade tip to the habaki. The blade has a mokume (wood eye) hada. This hada style is characteristic of the Gassan school. The blade is unsigned. This tanto has a wavy hamon/temper line. This sword has a fine ribbed wood saya.
This tanto has a Silver foil habaki. The fittings are all matching. All fittings have a bird and ocean waves design. Each fitting is made of Silver.

1 antique Japanese samurai arrow point available. This arrow point was made to look like a yari. This is a rare form for a Japanese arrow head. This desirable Japanese yanone/arrowhead would make a fine addition to any collection.
The ancient 17th-18th century Japanese yajiri/arrowpoint would have been used by true Samurai. This arrowpoint measures 9″ (22.9 cm), including the tang. The point itself measures 1 5/8″ (4.1 cm) by 1 1/8″ wide (2.9 cm).
The tang/nakago is marked with a number ‘X155’. I have seen this very style of marking before. This point was either in a museum, or was in a known collection.

1 antique 18th/19th Century Japanese sword tsuka. This fine Samurai sword handle has a rare family mon fuchi. This Samurai family mon centuries later was used unfortunately by the Nazis.
This katana/tachi tsuka measures 10 1/16″ in length. The fuchi/kashira doesn’t have to match with a fuchi like this sword handle has.
The opening in the fuchi that fits the sword blade measures 1 1/8″ long (2.9 cm) by 5/16″ wide (0.8 cm).
This Japanese Samurai sword handle, with its rare motif family mon fuchi, would make a rare addition to any collection–and would make a fine handle for an antique Japanese katana or tachi.

1 vintage WW2 Japanese Army Officer’s sword made by Tomoyoshi available. The Tomoyoshi katana has an outstanding fiery hamon/temper line. A WW II sword like this (with its exceptional temper line) doesn’t come along every day. This premium star stamp Japanese gendai katana would make an important addition to any collection.
This fine sword is signed ‘Osaka ju Izumi Tomoyoshi tsukuru kore’. The reverse side of the nakago is dated. This fine sword measures 26 5/8″ (67.6 cm) (measured properly from the blade tip to the notch in the blade spine).
This traditionally-made gendai katana has an expertly water-tempered wavy, fire-like hamon. This Japanese WW II Army Officer’s katana is in 1944 shin-gunto mounts.

1 antique traditionally-made World War II Japanese Samurai Army Officer’s gendai sword available. A WW2 Japanese Army Officer’s katana, with its hard-to-find bohi groove, would make an important addition to any collection.
All military fittings are of excellent quality. The seppa, tsuba, etc. all have matching assembly numbers–the number ’48’. The blade measures 25 7/8″ (65.7 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. The blade has a very fine bohi groove along its entire length. Bohi-grooved swords are coveted for their cutting ability. The tang is unsigned. This fine sword has an early very fine spatter-lacquered saya/scabbard.
This WW2 Army Officer’s katana has a fine blue/brown company grade tassel. Also, this katana has an old tag affixed to it from the vet who captured this sword. This sword has a fine cherry blossom sarute (tassel loop).

1 antique World War II Japanese samurai army officer’s Muratato shin-gunto sword available. A WW2 Japanese Army Officer’s katana would make an important addition to any collection.
The tang is unsigned, but does have a small stamp. This sword is a Murata-to sword. The slender blade, the blade’s curvature, blade length (this sword has the exact length as my last Muratato swords), and the bohi groove all say ‘Muratato’. Murata Tsuneyoshi developed the “new Japanese-European combined sword system”.
All military fittings are of excellent quality. The seppa, tsuba, etc. all have matching assembly numbers–the number ‘8’. This sword has a fine tsuba with a beautiful patina. The blade measures 25 5/8″ (65.1 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. This fine sword has an early metal red/brown-lacquered saya/scabbard.

1 antique late 1500’s A.D. Japanese Samurai katana available. This Samurai katana would make a fine addition to any antique edged weapons collection.
The fuchi and kashira are a matching set. The fuchi features Samurai shoulder armor and a mempo (face armor). The fuchi is signed ‘Soten‘. The matching kashira is made in the shape of a Samurai kabuto (helmet). The menuki are fu dogs. The tsuba/guard is a Tenbo stamped tsuba. Some of the stampings are Japanese kanji/letters.
This katana has a nice long blade. The blade measures 27 7/16″ (69.7 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.
The nakago/tang is unsigned. The original Samurai wood saya/scabbard has a leather combat cover over it. In addition, the kashira/pommel fitting has a sarute loop. So this Samurai sword was carried during World War 2.

1 ca.1492-1501 A.D. Samurai sword in Russo-Japanese War Army Officer Kyu-gunto mounts available. This sword was carried by true Samurai. This fine antique Japanese Army Officer’s Kyu-gunto sword would make an important addition to any collection.
This sword is papered to godai (5th Generation) Soshu Hiromasa.
This 15th/16th century sword was carried by Samurai–then was remounted for carry during the Russo-Japanese War. This sword was then later carried during World War II as well. The blade of this sword measures exactly 23 7/16″ from blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the habaki (measured properly without holding the tape to the curved spine). This sword is mounted in premium kyu-gunto military mountings. Note the black same/rayskin grip.
This sword has fine horimono/carvings on each side of the blade. Each side also has a bohi/blade groove.
This Samurai sword has a fiery hamon w/ashi (‘flying temper’). The hamon is very complicated. Holding the blade at a different angle under light reveals character that wasn’t visible at the previous angle. Turn the blade again, and yet new activity is visible. Utsure can be seen in this fine blade. The sword fittings have a gold wash.
This tsuka/handle backstrap bears a Samurai family mon.

1 premium World War II Japanese Army Officer’s gendaito samurai sword available. This is an early War sword–this katana was made in 1935. This sword was made by Yoshichika. Yoshichika made swords for the Japanese Imperial Guard. See page 196 in Slough’s book. Minamoto Yoshichika has a 1.5 million yen rating in Slough’s book.
This sword has a long blade. The blade measures 27 7/8″ (70.8 cm), as measured from the blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the mune (spine). This sword has a fine, complex temper line.
This sword is mounted in high quality, early World War II Shin-gunto military mountings. This sword was carried by an important Army Officer–not just any Officer could get away with have their Samurai Clan mon affixed over the regulation Army menuki.
The saya/scabbard is the metal-type with a fine, early War red/brown finish. The fittings–seppa, tsuba, etc.–have matching assembly numbers.
This fine Yoshichika Army Officer’s katana is papered. Not many WW2 era gendai swords are papered–this Yoshichika sword is a cut above.

1 ancient Japanese Samurai katana available. This antique Samurai sword has 2 sets of papers. This Samurai katana would make an exceptional addition to any antique edged weapons collection.
This fine sword was attributed to Hamabe Toshinori. There are shinsa papers for the sword blade itself, as well as for the koshirae.
The fuchi and kashira are matching. The tsuba is a fine example–the design is an arrangement of Japanese fans, whose arrangement also displays an 8-pointed star. The saya’s lacquer finish is embedded with tiny abalone fragments. The tsuka wrap is a rich, deep red color. The same is emperor-type–with large nodule same. The fine habaki is Silver-foiled. The seppa look to be solid Silver.
The slender and elegant katana blade measures 25 9/16″ (64.9 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.
This katana has a dynamic, wavy hamon.

1 exceedingly rare antique World War II Japanese Territory katana. This rare WW2 Japanese Mongol Military Government sword would make an important addition to any collection.
Photos 4 & 5 above are images from Jim Dawsens book. These images show that this sword is a textbook example of the Mongol Military Government sword.
All military fittings are of excellent quality. Note the unique horizontal stripes on the flag cantons on the backstrap. As well as the rare Mongol symbol on the backstrap ears and backstrap.
The blade measures 25 3/8″ (64.5 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. This sword has a traditional nihonto blade.
It’s not known whether this sword is signed. It looks like years ago someone took off the pommel nut–but the scratch marks on the brass created by removing the nut have patinated since then, so I don’t want to create bright new marks on the nut to find out.
