Description

1 Japanese Samurai inro case available.  This antique Edo Period lacquer inro case would make an elegant addition to any collection.

This 3-section lacquer-work inro features a carp and water plant motif.  The front side features a mother-of-pearl inlay.

An inro is a small, portable, compartmentalized case worn by men during the Edo period (1615-1868).  Traditional Japanese robes (kimono) do not have pockets.  Items like this were suspended from the waist sash (obi).  Inro were originally used to carry identity seals and medicines.

CONDITION:

Beautiful condition with a few tiny lacquer chips on the sides.
