The knife’s blade tang is stamped ‘WESTERN BOULDER, COLO. PAT.NO.1,967,479’. This knife measures 11 1/4″ overall. The blade itself measures 6 15/16″ to the guard. The pommel is aluminum, and the guard is brass.
Note the G.I. or Marine that carried this knife stitched a pouch with sharpening stone on the back of the scabbard. The stone has a hollowed oval with ‘NORTON’ marked in raised letters. Check out the photos for a closer look at this cool field adaption.

The blade is stamped ‘WOODSMAN’S PAL 280 TRADE MARK — PAT # 2335497 VICTOR TOOL CO.-READING, PA.’. The guard is stamped ‘LC-14-B’. The original books included with this Woodsman’s Pal fighting machete are:

Each manual was printed in 1943.
This Woodsman’s Pal has the initials of the G.I. or Marine who carried it.

1 exceedingly rare Japanese WW2 Iida mount Army Officer’s gendai sword available. This sword is among the most rare of all Japanese military swords. These mounts are referred to as the Iida seal–or the Iida lock, named after its inventor Iida Kunitaro. This exceptional Japanese Army sword would make an important addition to any collection.
This sword was made the 2 Million Yen smith, Imai Sadashige. Imai Sadashige earned the title of Sword Forging Teacher/Special Honor Noted Seat at the 1941 Sword Exhibition. Sadashige is featured on page 150 & 151 in John Slough’s book, An Oshigata Book of Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945.
The blade measures a long 26 7/8″ (68.3 cm) from blade tip to the notch in the blade spine.
The Iida lock is a weather-proofing mount designed to keep water and dirt out of the saya. This exceptionally rare sword would make an important addition to any collection. Information on the Iida (IIDA) lock can be found on pages 168 & 169 of Jim Dawson’s book, Swords of Imperial Japan 1868-1945 Cyclopedia Edition. Additional information can be found in Fuller and Gregory’s book Japanese Military and Civil Swords and Dirks.
The hamon is exceptional–the temper line billows almost all the way up to the shinogi line. Once polished this sword will be a screamer. Sadashige’s work is exceptional. Look at the photos of the hamon to see clues of what will be revealed in the blade once polished.
The saya is a special lightweight variation–made of lacquer-covered wood.

1 banner-etched World War II 2nd pattern Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife available. This ID’d knife would make a rare addition to any World War II, or world militaria collection.
The front tang is etched ‘THE F-S FIGHTING KNIFE’. The reverse tang is etched ‘WILKINSON SWORD LONDON’. There are no markings on the guard.
As mentioned above, this knife is identified to the G.I. that carried it. During the buildup of Allied troops in England prior to D-Day, U.S. G.I.’s noticed the Brits’ Wilkinson commando knives. Some of the U.S. paratroopers and G.I.’s that could afford it went to Wilkinson to buy themselves a commando F/S. For an extra fee they could get their names etched on the blade.
This knife is etched ‘HAROLD L. BOHN O-571031’. Having his name and serial number makes this G.I.’s service record fully researchable.

2-Star General Joseph C. Fegan (Sr.) served the Marine Corps during World War 2. (His son, Joseph C. Fegan, Jr., also went on to become a Major General in the Marine Corps).
The person who made this presentation knife replaced the blade and skull-crusher pommel with those he machined himself.
