A palanquin was a passenger compartment carried by servants. Inside a palanquin was a Samurai of notoriety. A palanquin yari is typically 3-4 feet long. This yari allowed the Samurai to protect himself while inside the palanquin.
This pole arm has a socket yari. The yari nagasa measures 4 1/2″. Overall this palanquin yari measures 44″ long.
One side of the socket yari has two bohi; the other has bonji horimono.
This yari has its original Samurai saya cover!
CONDITION:
This antique Japanese Samurai yari is in excellent condition. The pole is perfectly straight. This yari still has its bottom fitting! Normally this fitting is missing.
The socket yari is in perfect polish. The hamon/temper line is perfectly healthy.
