Description

An antique 18th Century Indo-Persian Tulwar.  This fine Tulwar sword would make an important addition to any collection.

The blade has an inscription inlaid in Silver.  The inscription reads ‘Victory is from Allah and Triumph is Near’.

Measuring 37 inches (94 cm) in overall length.  This example has a curved blade and a traditional iron hilt of classic Tulwar form.  The hilt is plain and functional, without decorative embellishment, and terminates in a flat disc pommel fitted with a domed cap and button.  No scabbard is present.

Note: The Tulwar was the standard sword of the Indian subcontinent for centuries, used by warriors, nobles, and soldiers alike.  Its distinctive disc pommel and curved blade made it highly effective for slashing cuts from horseback, while the simplicity or ornamentation of the hilt often reflected the rank of its owner.

CONDITION:

Good overall.  The hilt displays a dark, even patina.  The blade also has a dark patina.  The blade has more oxidation near the tip.
