Each saya is fine lacquer over wood. Two saya have hand-carved ribs–one of these with a metal drag fitting. A third saya has a textured lacquer finish, and a saguri. The fourth saya has a two-tone red/black polished lacquer finish. A subtle feature of this saya is a number of silver paulownia flowers.
