Description
1 Japanese WWII Navy sword with its original vet bringback paper. Swords with their original bringback papers are so hard to find!
This Naval Officer sword was made by Hattori Masahiro, and is signed by him. This sword has the higher level koshirae/mounts found among Naval swords. The saya is made of polished lacquer over shagreen (sharkskin).
This is a gendaito (hand-made blade). There is no arsenal or showa mark on the nakago. This sword has a desirable wavy hamon/temper line.
The blade nagasa/cutting edge is 25 3/4″ (65.4 cm).
The original bringback paper is dated 2 Dec, 45. The paper notes that 1 sword is authorized to be brought home as a war trophy by Pfc Charlie R. Holt. The private’s serial number is also noted on the bringback paper, so his service record is completely researchable.
CONDITION:
The mounts are in exceptional condition. The saya locking mechanism functions perfectly. The blade is in excellent wartime polish. The bringback paper is encased in a protective sleeve.
