1 rare condition antique Ka-bar exchange-blade hatchet/hunting knife combo.  This beautiful antique stag handle combo would make an important addition to any collection.

The sheath for this rare condition set is stamped ‘GENUINE LEATHER  Kabar‘.  Both knife blade and hatchet blade are stamped ‘Kabar‘.  The knife has a 4 11/16″ blade.  When affixed to the stag handle, the hatchet measures 12 1/8″ overall. 

1 mint condition antique Jean Case model MY-65 hatchet/hunting knife combo.  This beautiful yellow handle combo comes with its original box!  This set would make an important addition to any collection.

Both knife blade and hatchet blade are stamped ‘JEAN CASE   CUT CO.   LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y.’.  The knife has a 5 1/16″ blade.  The hatchet measures 10 5/8″ overall. 

1 mint condition Jim Behring Jr. hatchet/hunting knife combo.  This beautiful Behring custom hatchet/knife combo would make an important addition to any collection.

This set has rare handles, and was made in the style of Scagel knives. 

The knife has a 4 3/4″ blade.  It measures 9 3/8″ overall.  This knife is stamped ‘J. BEHRING JR.   MONTANA‘. 

The hatchet head measures 3 3/4″ by 4 3/8″.  The belt sheath is stamped ‘MOSHER‘.

Both knife and hatchet were made with laminated steel (see photos to view the laminated blade edges). 

1 new in the box vintage Western W-6610 hatchet/hunting knife combo.  This Western hatchet/knife combo would make an important addition to any collection.

The Western W66 hunting knife has a 4 1/2″ blade.  It measures 8 7/8″ overall.  The hatchet is stamped with its model number ‘W10’.  The hatchet measures 12″ overall.  The hatchet head itself measures 2 11/16″ by 4 5/16″. 

1 antique Charris exchange blade hatchet/hunting knife combo.  This fine hatchet/knife combo was made for Charris by Western.  This set would make an important addition to any collection.

The hunting knife has a 4 15/16″ blade.  When affixed to the handle the knife measures 9 5/16″ overall.  The hatchet measures 11 3/8″ overall.  The hatchet head itself measures 2 1/2″ by 4 1/4″.  This fine Charris set has cracked ice handle scales.

Each case has inside dimensions of 16 3/8” X 10 3/8” X 1 1/4”. The outside dimensions are 18” X 12” X 2 1/4”. Each case has picture hanger wire attached to the back so that the cases can be hung on the wall. The inside foam is over 1” thick—knives, watches, guns, duck calls, etc. are held tightly in place by the compressible foam.

1 Japanese World War II Army Officer’s Samurai sword available.  This katana was made by Masashige.  This Japanese sword would make an important addition to any collection.

This is a desirable hand-made gendai sword.  Note the rare blade shape.  This is the first World War 2 gendai I have owned (or seen) that has this desirable blade shape.  This sword is something special. 

Matsubayashi Masashige was awarded ‘Special Honor Noted Seat/Sword Forging Teacher’ at the 1941 Exhibition.  Just 33 of the hundreds of swordsmith participants in the 1941 Exhibition were awarded this ranking.  This sword’s hamon is exceptional.  See the photos for a closer look.  This sword was water-tempered.  

In 1942 Mr. Kurihara Hikosaburo, a historian who helped to bring out a revival of the sword-making tradition in Japan, ranked 400 wartime Japanese swordsmiths into 7 skill categories–saijo saku (highest), jojo saku, jo saku, chujo saku, chu saku, chuge saku, and ge saku.  Matsubayashi Masashige was ranked in the second highest skill category by Mr. Hikosaburo.  

This sword is dated October, 1934.  Very early.  

The blade measures 24 1/4″ (61.6 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.  

Note the superior koshirae.  The mounts were custom-ordered.  Note the Silvered fittings.  The handle ito/wrap is lacquered.  Very unusual in a World War 2 sword.  The saya is wood with a reddish textured lacquer finish.  

This sword is, in all respects, a cut above the rest.  

1 antique World War II Imperial Japanese Army Samurai Officer’s shin-gunto sword available.  If you look for followed makers of World War II Imperial Japanese Officer’s swords, this sword by Kanezane would be an important acquisition. 

This sword has a fine wavy temper line.  There is a Showa stamp on the nakago above Kanezane’s signature.  This sword was oil-tempered.  

The blade measures 26 1/2″ (67.5 cm) from blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the habaki.  

1 hard to find WW2 Smiths knuckle knife available.  The Smiths knuckle knife was made in New Zealand for Allied fighting men.  This knife would make an important addition to any collection.

This knife measures 11 3/8″ overall.  The blade measures 6 15/16″.  For reference, photos of the Smiths knuckle knife are provided in this listing from entries in Mike Silvey’s WW2 book, as well as from the theater knives book by Wright.

1 antique Samurai kusarigama (hook and chain) weapon available.  This Samurai weapon was made sometime in the 17th or 18th centuries.  This hard-to-find Japanese antique would make an important addition to any collection.  

Use of the kusarigama is called kusarigamajutsu.  Attacking with the weapon usually entailed swinging the weighted chain in a large circle over one’s head, and then whipping it forward to entangle an opponent’s spear, sword, or other weapon, or immobilizing his arms or legs. This allows the kusarigama user to rush forward and strike with the hook.

A kusarigama wielder might also strike with the spinning weighted end of the chain directly while still outside the range of an opponent’s hand weapon.

This kusarigama measures 15 1/4 inches in length.  The chain (including the weight) measures 63 inches.  

This kusarigama was signed by the maker.
