Description
1 Pacific Theater and Vet ID’d U.S. World War 2 Cattaraugus 225Q fighting knife. This knife is ID’d–making the WW2 veteran’s service record fully researchable. This U.S. military knife would make an important addition to any collection.
The sheath has all kinds of writing on it. It reads ‘ESPIRITO SANTOS SO. PAC. C.B.M.U. 541 U.S.N. NEW HEBRIDES A-FEB.7 1944 DEC. 27 1943. JACK W. FARRINGTON EUGENE OREGON‘ on the front side.
On the reverse side it reads: ‘LEFT GULFPORT MISS. DEC. 27 1943 ARRIVED NEW HEBRIDES SOUTH PAC. FEB. 7 1944 ESPIRTO SAINTO‘, and ‘Jack W. Farrington 948 1/2 West 12th Ave. Eugene Oregon‘.
This knife measures 10 1/2″ overall. The blade itself measures 6″. The blade tang is stamped ‘Cattaraugus 225Q’.
The 225Q blade was designed extra thick for prying open shipping crates during the War. The pommel on the 225Q Quartermaster fighting knife has a hammer head for pounding the crate lids back down again.
