Description
1 fine antique 17th Century Japanese Samurai katana available. This exceptional sword would make an important addition to any collection.
The matching fuchi/kashira have a gold snowflake motif. The gold gilt nanban tsuba is decorated with twin dragons. The shakudo and gold menuki look to be a priest motif. The unsigned nakago has three mekugi-ana, so this sword was mounted at least three different times. The saya lacquer has a stipled texture.
The blade nagasa measures 27 1/16″ (68.7 cm). The attractive hamon is complex with occasional flying temper.
An exceptional 17th Century Samurai katana with attractive gold-gilt fittings.
