Description

1 antique Japanese Samurai palanquin bow and arrow set.  This rare set would make an important addition to any collection.

A palanquin was a small coach for an important Samurai or family member that was carried by 4 or more individuals on their shoulders.  A palaquin bow was one of the close quarters weapon choices for this individual.

The quiver is made of wood and leather.  A Samurai family mon adorns each side of the lower leather portion of the quiver.  A boar’s eye is on the front of the leather as well.

The bow measures approximately 60 cm in length.  There are 11 arrows–all with forged yanone points.  Two of these points are signed.  The others may be as well, but the yanone are firmly fixed in the bamboo shafts on the other 9 arrows.

Note the decorative metal fittings.

CONDITION:

This antique Japanese Samurai palanquin bow and arrows set is in exceptional condition.  The nock is broken off one arrow–this arrow has a signed yanone point.
