1 antique traditionally-made World War II Japanese Samurai Naval Officer's gendai sword available.  A WW2 Japanese Naval Officer's sword would make an important addition to any collection.

All military fittings are of excellent quality.  The saya has the collector-coveted sharkskin covering.  The blade measures 22 15/16" (58.3 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.  The nakago/tang is unsigned.  The back side of the tang though has a painted assembly number written in Japanese kanji.  

This WW2 Navy Officer's sword has gold-gilt fittings.  This sword has a fine wavy hamon/temper line.

This vintage Japanese WW2 Samurai Army Officer's sword was handmade--as evidenced by two places on the blade where blade layers have a slight separation between them (pictured).  There are no visible nicks in the blade edge.  An occasional nail-catcher type nick can be felt when pulling the blade along a fingernail.  The blade has finish pitting.  The worst area can be cleaned up still more.  Just a couple of minutes was spent on it--so it will improve nicely still.  The hamon/temper line shows through very well.  The blade is perfectly straight.  The tsuka wrap is in excellent condition.  The sword fits perfectly in the saya.  The sharkskin saya is in beautiful condition. 


This Japanese WW2 Samurai Naval Officer's gendai sword, with its beautiful handmade blade and premium sharkskin saya, would make a rare addition to any collection.
