1 antique World War II Japanese samurai Army Colonel Officer's sword available.  The blade is a fine sword by Ishido Teruhide.   The sword is in full recent polish.  This sword is mounted in shirasaya--with a gold foil habaki.  This very fine Japanese Army Colonel's katana would make an important addition to any collection.

The mounts are early--and are very rare.  Mounts with this high grade blue-black/grey finish are found on perhaps 1 in 15,000 Army swords.  

The kashira has a Silver Samurai family mon--which is quite nice.  But what is especially uncommon is that there is a Samurai mon on each menuki. 

The nakago/tang is signed with two characters, Teruhide.  The kashira has a fine clasped hands sarute, and a near-mint Colonel's (field grade) tassel.  The mounts/koshirae have a wood blade/tsunagi. 

The blade measures 26 1/16"/66.2 cm (as measured properly with a tape pulled tight from the blade tip to the bottom of the notch in the habaki).  This sword has a very fine gold foil habaki. 

This antique Japanese World War II Army Colonel Officer's koshirae fitttings are in beautiful condition.  The saya has a couple of very small dents as well as honest finish wear from carry during the War.  The sword tassel is in nearly perfect condition with only a few threads with some minor wear where the tassel is attached to the sarute.

The sword is in perfect recent polish.  The costs were already incurred by this sword's previous owner--$2000-$2600 for polish, plus $1000 for a gold foil habaki.  This sword, with its exceptional condition are rarity of mounts, is a no-brainer from a cost and collector perspective. 

The hamon is perfectly healthy.  The boshi is perfectly healthy as well.
