1 U.S. World War 2 Richtig fighting knife available.  This big 8" Richtig fighting knife would make an important addition to any U.S. military or world militaria collection. 

This knife was made by a legend in knife-making.  Frank Richtig had a secret steel tempering process that allowed him to slice through railroad spikes and automobile leaf springs.  Frank would demonstrate this at county fairs--after slicing a railroad spike or leaf spring, he would slice through a piece of paper with the same knife.  Frank earned himself a spot in a 'Ripley's Believe It or Not' magazine in the 1930's.  These knives can be used for decades, because of Frank's superior craftsmanship.

This big fighter measures 12 7/8" overall.  The blade itself measures 8".  The guard and pommel are brass.  The extended lanyard ring was hammered flatter during the War.  The pommel is stamped 'F.J.R.  CLARKSON  NEB.'.  There is no sheath with this knife.  I recommend the collector purchase a period World War 2 sheath for an 8" knife to go with it.  

There are 3 notches carved into the guard--sometimes notches like this are meant to record how many enemy kills a soldier had.

This fine 8" WW2 Richtig fighting knife is in excellent condition.  There are no nicks in the blade edge.  There is some minor oxidation on the blade, and some carbon staining/patina.  Many collectors know that the blade will clean up perfect on a Scotch-Brite belt.  This knife has some some bumps and dings.  This knife saw action.  This knife is in great condition, and could be carried into battle again.
