1 vintage U.S. World War II Nichols fighting knife with Alfred Cornish sheath. This fine Nichols knife, with its desirable Cornish sheath, would make an important addition to any U.S. or world militaria collection.
This fine Nichols fighting knife was made for the soldier, 'VERN R. STEVENS CM I/C 6558581', and is so marked on the guard. The reverse side of the guard is marked 'DAVID CITY: NEBR. U.S.A.'. The curved pommel is stamped 'NICHOLS' above the inlayed U.S. Buffalo nickel coin.
This knife has a 7 7/8" blade. This knife measures 13" overall. The knife still has portions of the wrist thong attached to the guard's rings!
The sheath is stamped on the front 'CM I/C VERN R. STEVENS DAVID CITY: NEBR. U.S.A.'. The top of the sheath is stamped 'ALFRED CORNISH OMAHA.NEB'.
This WW2 Nichols fighting knife shows both honest signs of carry in World War 2, and exceptional condition. The blade is excellent with no nicks. The handle is perfect. The buffalo nickel is perfect as well. Everything on this knife is nice and tight. The Cornish sheath is in exceptional condition. There is only some minor surface crazing on the keeper strap.
