The blade ricasso is stamped 'IMPERIAL PROV. R.I.'. The Type A1 survival machete has a black checkered handle. The blued blade locks in the open position. A lock release is located on the handle near the blade. The guard covers the sharpened edge when the machete is in the folded position. The guard folds into the handle and out of the way when the machete is in the open position. Note the original grey leather lanyard strap is still attached to this machete. This vintage World War II Type A1 folding survival machete is in near-mint condition. The blade has 99+% of its blued finish. The blade locks up tight in the open position. The blade also has strong snap. There is almost no oxidation on this folding survival machete. In fact, there are just 7 small spots of oxidation on the entire machete--totaling a combined surface area of less than the size of a U.S. dime coin. The blade has its original, perfect & unused factory edge. The scabbard leather is soft, and is in perfect condition. All stitching and rivets are in perfect condition. The sharpening stone is in perfect condition as well.
