1 rare U.S. World War II aluminum handle Barteaux Commando fighting knife. Interestingly, the 'COMMANDO' and 'USA' handle markings on this knife are legible, but not clear. It doesn't appear to just be from wear--it's almost like Barteaux decided to remove the markings from his handle die, and only mostly removed the markings from it.
This knife measures 9 3/4" overall. The knife blade itself measures 5 1/8". The scabbard is a 'U.S.N'-marked sheath from a 5" Mark 1 fighting knife.
This WW II Barteaux knife and sheath are in excellent condition. The blade has sharpening marks. The handle is in excellent condition. The scabbard is in excellent condition. There is green vertegris corrosion on the brass components, but this vertegris can be cleaned off.
This rare Barteaux Commando knife deserves a home in a premium collection.
