1 antique Japanese Samurai tanto sword available.  This tanto sword was carried by true Samurai--this sword would make an important addition to any collection.

The blade measures 6 3/4" (17.1 cm) from blade tip to the habaki.  The blade has a mokume (wood eye) hada.  This hada style is characteristic of the Gassan school.  The blade is unsigned.  This tanto has a wavy hamon/temper line.  This sword has a fine ribbed wood saya. 

This tanto has a Silver foil habaki.  The fittings are all matching.  All fittings have a bird and ocean waves design.  Each fitting is made of Silver. 

This vintage Japanese Samurai tanto is in excellent condition.  The hamon/temper line and boshi are perfect.  The blade has no pitting or oxidation.  The two-piece metal mekugi is missing one side--a replacement set can be used to correct this problem.  The kashira is missing a fleur-de-lis tab on one side.  The lacquer is beautiful on both the tsuka and on the saya.  There are no lacquer nicks or chips of any kind.  At one time, this tanto had a fitting attached towards the bottom of the saya on one side with pine sap.  The pine sap does chip off easily with a fingernail--the lacquer is good underneath, and hasn't chipped off with the minimal removal I tried. 



This fine Japanese Samurai tanto sword would make an important addition to any collection. 


This sword cannot be shipped to mainland China, Russia, Singapore, or Taiwan as these countries' Customs offices do not allow the importation of swords.
