1 hard-to-find antique Frank J. Richtig aluminum-handle meat cleaver available.  As mentioned in the title, a Richtig meat cleaver is rare.

This knife was made by a legend in knife-making.  Frank Richtig had a secret steel tempering process that allowed him to slice through railroad spikes and automobile leaf springs.  Frank would demonstrate this at county fairs--after slicing a railroad spike or leaf spring, he would slice through a piece of paper with the same knife.  Frank earned himself a spot in a 'Ripley's Believe It or Not' magazine in the 1930's.

This impressive-sized Richtig cleaver measures 12 1/4" overall.  The cutting edge itself measures 6 1/8".  The aluminum handle is marked with the 'HAND MADE BY F.J. RICHTIG CLARKSON, NEBR.' stamp.  This cleaver weighs a heavy 1 lb. 5 oz.

If you are going to own a cleaver, here's a cleaver that few others would have in their collection.

This large Richtig cleaver is in excellent condition.  The blade has only mild surface oxidation.  The blade will clean up nicely with some Simichrome or Flitz and a rag if desired.

This Richtig meat cleaver is an excellent example of his work--and would bring the buyer a rare piece of knifemaking history.
