This Kanbun period katana has a nice long blade. The blade measures 27 7/8" (70.8 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.
This Samurai katana was later carried during World War 2. The Army officer that carried this sword spent a lot of extra money on premium mounts. The Army saya is rare in that it is wood with a red lacquer finish. The tsuba, fuchi, kashira, seppa, and all other fittings are exceptional and uncommon.
This antique Japanese Samurai katana is exceptional. There are no nicks in the blade. There is a very occasional spot of minor, insignificant oxidation on the blade surface.
