1 rare World War II Japanese Samurai Forestry Dirk available. This Japanese dirk is the most rare of all Japanese dirks. It is one of just 3 or 4 of this Forestry Dagger variation known to exist. This dagger would make an exceptionally rare addition to any collection.
The blade measures 7 3/4" (28.9 cm). This dagger measures 12 1/2" overall.
All fittings are of exceptional quality. Note the fine horn mekugi/peg. As mentioned, only 3 or 4 of this pattern dagger with brass and gilt fittings are known to exist--all others have nickel fittings. In fact, the only place this variation appears in reference books is in Fuller & Gregory's book--and at that, only a drawing of this variation appears in that publication.
This is a rare variation Forestry dagger.
This rare Japanese Forestry dirk is in excellent condition. The fittings are in beautiful condition. Two of the three handle wires are gone. The blade has some occasional patina. The lock mechanism functions perfectly.
This exceptionally rare antique Japanese Forestry dirk would make a rare addition to any collection.
