1 very rare Japanese WW2 Nan'yo (South Seas) Colonial Sword available. This rare sword would make an important addition to any collection.

As mentioned in Jim Dawson's book Swords of Imperial Japan 1868-1945, Cyclopedia Edition on page 350, "In 1914 the Japanese navy captured the islands that later became the Nan'yo Colony, and, initially, the navy administered the islands."

The Nan'yo Colonial sword has the unique wreath and cherry blossom emblem on the backstrap ears.  On the same page 350 in Dawson's book, it further reads "Naval Uniform Regulations show boar's eye cut-outs on [the scabbards] of hannon level swords, but all such swords knows to the author have 'U'-shaped cut-outs."  The sword offered in this eBay listing does have the boar's eye cut-outs dictated in the Naval Uniform Regulations for the Nan'yo Colony sword.  So this sword is quite rare.

This sword measures 26 1/2" from the blade tip to the guard.

This sword is in excellent condition.  The saya is beautiful with only an occasional lacquer chip.  The handle is missing one of the three wire straps on just two runs fortunately.  The blade has occasional oxidation.
