1 fine Japanese WW2 Chosen (Korea) Colonial Sword available. This sword would make an important addition to any collection.
This is the Sonin (higher) level sword with decorated fittings.
The sword blade measures 25 1/2" (64.8 cm).
This sword is in exceptional condition. The handle, same (rayskin), and wire wrap are all perfect. The blade has much of its original acid-etched yakiba (temper line) still visible. The blade is perfectly straight. There is a thin, decorative only throat trim fitting at the top of the saya missing--but without it the locking mechanism still works perfectly. Coincidentally, this thin trim fitting was also missing from the only other early Chosen sword I had. They were just glued on with pine pitch (this pine pitch can be seen in photo 11). And as mentioned, this missing thin decorative trim fitting is not needed for the lock mechanism to engage perfectly.
This is a hard-to-find, early Japanese colonial sword.
