1 U.S. World War 2 Pacific theater identified KABAR fighting knife. This knife has it all--ship identification, the sailor's name, downed aircraft plexiglass handle, etc. This knife would make an important addition to any collection.
The blade is from a blade-marked Ka-Bar Mark 2 fighting knife. The blade measures 6 7/8". The handle tang is painted in three colors--green, red, and yellow. The handle grip is made of plexiglass from downed aircraft.
This knife is fully identified (and then some) on the sheath. It reads 'Fox. T. M. U.S.S. Highlands A.P.A. 119'. The U.S.S. Highlands was a Haskell-class Attack Transport.
The U.S.S. Highlands unloaded heavy equipment on Eniwetok, Saipan, IWO JIMA, Okinawa, and Tsugen Jima.
This knife is in excellent condition.
