1 vintage World War II 2nd pattern Wilkinson Sword Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife available. F/S commando knives like these were carried by U.S. G.I.'s and paratroopers, and by British Commandos in Europe during World War II. Some U.S. combat troops staging in England would purchase these knives to carry in addition to, or as replacement for their M3 trench knife. This fighting knife would make a fine addition to any World War II, or world militaria collection.
This Wilkinson knife is ID'd/named to the G.I. that carried it. The blade is etched 'HUGH R BORRIES'. Some basic research was done to confirm the G.I.'s enlistment in the Army (see photo 10 above).
This knife measures 11 11/16" overall. The blade itself measures 6 5/8". The front tang is etched 'THE F-S FIGHTING KNIFE'. The reverse tang is stamped 'WILKINSON SWORD LONDON'. There are no markings on the guard.
This ID'd World War II 2nd pattern Wilkinson Sword F/S fighting knife is in excellent condition. There are no blade nicks. The blade etches have some wear from sharpening. The scabbard is in excellent condition. The pommel nut has not been messed with. The sheath throat back was cut off for carry.
