1 authentic antique Union Civil War model 1860 Light Cavalry sword available.  This is a wartime M1860 Cavalry sword as its date is 1859.  This U.S. Cavalry sword would make an important addition to any office, den, or business; and would make a fine addition to any collection.

This U.S. Cavalry sword was made by Ames of Massachusetts.  The blade ricasso is stamped with the maker's name 'AMES MFG. CO.  CHICOPEE  MASS.'.  The reverse ricasso is stamped 'U.S.  J.H  1859'.  This Union sword has a leather-covered wood handle.  The leather is wrapped with braided brass wire.  The sword blade measures 35" long.

The Phrygian style pommel cap is stamped perhaps 'LOM'.  The scabbard has the braising line running all the way up the side.

This vintage Union sword is in very nice condition.  The handle's braided brass wire wrap and leather are antique replacements.  Everything is nice and tight on this sword.  The brass guard has a nice patina.  The blade is straight until a very slight bend 4" from the blade tip.  The blade has carbon staining, with some pitting towards the point.

This sword has seen battle.  The blade shows a number of sword strikes.

The scabbard is in excellent functional condition.  The scabbard was covered in oxidation in the past.  The scabbard has the normal deliberate dent near its blade tip that keeps the blade from making noise in the scabbard when the Union Civil War soldier was on the move.
