1 vintage pre-WW2 thru WW2 Japanese katana sword available. This katana has a dragon horimono/carving on the blade. This gendai katana would make a fine addition to any collection.
This gendai sword is unsigned. There is no arsenal stamp on this sword. This katana measures 26 1/8" (66.4 cm) (measured properly from the blade tip to the notch in the blade spine).
This gendai katana has a straight hamon with the design of Mt. Fuji incorporated into the hamon about 8" back from the blade tip. The old Samurai saya/scabbard is wooden with gold and black lacquer.
The front side of the blade has horimono/carving of a dragon chasing the sacred ball or flaming/magical pearl. The reverse side of the blade has a sanskrit character.
The handle wrap on this sword is excellent. The sword fits perfectly in the saya, and has a nice secure fit at the habaki/saya throat. The saya has lacquer chips. There is just one tiny nail-catcher type nick in the blade edge. The blade has a few occasional spots of pitting. The hamon/temper line displays beautifully. The blade is perfectly straight.
The temper line and boshi are perfectly healthy. This sword is guaranteed against fatal flaws.
