The blade is stamped 'COLLINS & CO. HARTFORD No.1001'. The reverse side is stamped 'U.S.M.C.'. This Collins square-tip machete measures 17" overall. The blade itself measures 11 3/4".
This WW2 Collins Square-Tip Entrenching machete was carried in battle. The blade has carbon staining/patina, with some pitting mostly towards the tip. The Square-Tip machete is a hefty blade--even at the tip the blade measures over 1/8". There is plenty of meat on the blade. The handle is in excellent condition. The handle is tight with no wiggle or movement of any kind. The scabbard is in really nice condition compared to the usual--WW2 entrenching machetes saw heavy use during the War.
