1 very early Marble's Safety Axe. Co.--M.S.A.--7-inch Ideal hunting knife w/original Milton Rowland carved cattails tube sheath. This rare early 1900's knife would make an exceedingly rare addition to any collection.
This is the large stamp 'MICH-U.S.A.' Ideal. This is a beautiful knife.
The pommel nut measures 1/2". This knife measures 11 7/16" overall. The blade itself measures 6 13/16". The thick guard measures over 3/16".
The original Milton Rowland tube sheath has the hand-carved cattails scene on its front.
The blade has only very light, very superficial pitting. The guard and pommel are perfectly tight. The pommel nut has never been tightened or messed with. The stag pommel is perfect with no cracks or chips. The sheath has one very short 1/4" slice near its tip, and a little wear at its tip. Otherwise the stitches are in great condition. The keeper strap came off long ago. The old hunter who carried this knife cut two slits in the back to slip a strap through. This rare sheath is in excellent condition for its age.
