1 antique Japanese Samurai katana available. This sword was made in 1844 A.D. This antique Japanese sword would make an important acquisition for any collection.
The sword is signed Soji Jiro Taro Fujiwara Naokatsu tsukuru kore.
The blade measures 26 3/8" from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.
This sword has a feature I have never personally seen before. I have heard of it in a papered sword before, but hadn't ever seen it in person. There are two kanji way down at the bottom of the nakago. The top character looks like a kao--a swordsmith's seal. But it's hard to say if it is a kao for sure. On the papered sword that had kanji in this same location, the Shinsa group called it an owner's name. So the kanji could be the owner's name--the name of the Samurai who carried this sword.
This sword has an occasional small spot of pitting.
