All military fittings/koshirae are of superior quality. The blade measures 25 7/16" (64.6 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. This fine sword has an early black-lacquered saya/scabbard.
Note the rare, red-lacquered tsuka wrap. The fuchi/saya lock was removed by the Japanese Army Officer who carried this sword.
