1 vintage U.S. World War 1/World War II Mark 1 trench knuckle knife.  This trench fighting knife was made in France for the U.S. Army, and is marked ‘AU LION‘ on the tang.  The lion image is stamped just above the Au Lion mark.  This knife would make an important addition to any collection.

This knife measures 11 3/8″ overall.  The blade itself measures 6 9/16″.  ‘U.S. 1918‘ is marked on the guard.  Interestingly there is a small hole drilled in the guard–this was likely used to thread a leather thong through to tie the guard to the knife during downtime between battles.  The scabbard is the correct French-made metal scabbard.

This trench fighting knife was made by L.F. & C.  This knife measures 13 7/8″ overall.  The blade itself measures 8 7/8″.  This knife has 7 point knucks.   ‘U.S.  L.F.&C.  1917’ is stamped on the guard.

The scabbard is stamped ‘M.S.’ on the upper and lower fitting.  The green leather portion of the scabbard is stamped ‘JEWELL – 1918’. 

1 vintage U.S. World War II Shipley knuckle knife.  An iconic Shipley knuckle knife like this one was chosen by author Mike Silvey to adorn the back cover of his book, Knives of the United States Military–World War II.  This rare knife would make a fine addition to any collection. 

This Shipley knuckle knife is marked on the scabbard ‘C.P. SHIPLEY,  KANSAS CITY.’. 

This WWII fighting knife has a brass knuckle guard and metal skull crusher pommel.  The upswept blade is especially long on this example measuring 7 7/16″ in length.  Overall this knife measures 12 5/8″.

1 U.S. World War II Everitt knuckle knife.  This is the green handle Everitt trench knuckle knife.  This knife would make a rare addition to any collection.

The handle has the ‘EVERITT‘ mark.  This knife measures 12″ overall.  The double-edge trench blade itself measures 7 1/16″.  The blade is blackened. 

The Everitt scabbard has the characteristic black rivets, throat staples, and the long keeper strap.

1 U.S. World War II Taylor-Huff knuckle knife.  This Huff knuckle knife would make a rare addition to any collection. 

This is a very large Huff combat knife.  This knife measures 13 9/16″ overall.  The double-edged blade itself measures 8 13/16″.  The blade and knuckle guard have remnants of the typical Huff blued-finish. 

The brass plate on one side of the wood handle is stamped ‘MADE. AT.  FORT. KNOX. KY.‘.  The belt sheath is not an original Huff sheath, but is World War 2 vintage.

1 U.S. World War II Everitt knuckle knife.  This is the black handle Everitt trench knuckle knife.  This knife would make a rare addition to any collection.

The handle has the ‘EVERITT‘ mark.  This knife measures 11 13/16″ overall.  The double-edge trench blade itself measures 6 7/8″.  The blade has remnants of its blackened finish in the fuller. 

The sheath for this knife is a U.S.N. Mark 2 scabbard.  The keeper strap fits around the handle perfectly.

1 rare vintage U.S. World War 2 Stelzig knuckle knife.  This rare World War combat knife would make an important addition to any collection.

This style of Stelzig knuckle knife can be seen in Mike Silvey’s book U.S. Military Knives – World War 2.  This Stelzig knife measures 12 1/2″ overall.  The blade itself measures 8″.  Note the weighted skull crusher pommel on this Stelzig’s WWI Mark 1 trench knife style handle.   

The scabbard is not an original Stelzig sheath.  The collector bought the knife without a sheath.  He had one made for it with old leather from a U.S. 1945 bolo machete.  Though not original, it is well done. 

1 original U.S. World War 1 / World War II 1917 H.D. & S. trench knife available.  This Henry Disston & Sons knife is a very rare WW1 trench knife.  This knife would make an important addition to any collection. 

This knife measures 14 3/16″ overall.  The blade itself measures 9″.  ‘U.S.  H.D. & S.  1918‘ is stamped on the guard.

The scabbard is stamped ‘M.S.’ on the upper and lower fitting.  The green leather portion of the scabbard is stamped ‘JEWELL – 1918‘.

1 very desirable U.S. World War II Taylor Huff knuckle knife.  This is an outstanding Taylor Huff knife for a collector. 

This is a large 14 1/2″ overall.  The blade itself measures 9 11/16″.  This is the Huff variation 3 with the walnut grip with no brass strip. 

Take a look at photos in this listing from the following references.  The references are from Frank Trzaska’s article in Military Knives–A Reference Book pages 154-156; M.H. Cole’s The Best of U.S. Military Knives Bayonets & Machetes pages 277-278; and Bill Wright’s Theater Made Military Knives of World War II pages 136-137.  These reference photos show the exact features of this knife and its Huff sheath. 

Note the stitching pattern on the front of this scabbard.  The exact pattern, with stitching on the bottom 2/3 of the scabbard and no stitching–only a rolled line along the outer edges of the top 1/3 of the scabbard, can be seen in the knife appearing on page 155 of Military Knives–A Reference Book. 

Next note the straight, not tapered, ricasso/tang on this knife, and on the Huff knives on pages 136 & 137 of Bill Wright’s book. 

Third, notice the sheath design Patent Office application drawing on page 155 of Military Knives–A Reference Book.  The back stitching is exact, the only minor variation is Huff proposed, at the time of the application, adding two rivets to the leather piece holding the brass wire hanger. 

The photos provide other examples of every other feature of this knife. 

I have also attached photos of three other Taylor Huff knuckle knives I have owned for reference.  These photos show both some of the same features as on this knife, and they show that Taylor Huff made changes to his different knife designs over time.  These knives appear in the very last five photos.

The blade has its original perfect edges (see the example perfect original blade edges photographed on page 154 of Military Knives–A Reference Book).  The blade edges on the knife on this site exactly match the original perfect edges on the example knife in the reference book.
