This knife measures 11 7/8″ overall. The blade itself measures 7″.

1 ID’d Vietnam War 1969 Gerber Mark II fighting knife. This Mark II is identified on the blade ‘BLACK WIDOW 437‘. Black Widow 437 was an Attack Helicopter Squadron in Vietnam. This early combat knife would make an important addition to any collection.
This Gerber is serial number ‘014064’. The blade is etched with the soldier’s name ‘JAS. M. THRESHER’.
The vet that carried this knife didn’t want to carry the sharpening steel so he removed it.

1 U.S. Vietnam War 5th Special Forces Group Presentation combat knife. This knife is identified. This SOG fighting knife would make an exceptional addition to any collection.
This knife was owned and carried by Special Forces Colonel John F. Sullivan. There is a letter from Colonel Sullivan to Bill Adams, who purchased this knife from the Colonel.
The knife blade measures 6 1/4″. This knife measures 10 7/8″ overall. This iron guard SOG knife is engraved ‘5TH SPECIAL FORCES GROUP (Abn) VIETNAM’.
Colonel Sullivan provided the original buyer of the knife with his Service resume. In addition to serving in World War 2 and Korea, Colonel Sullivan ‘…Conducted analysis of Pilot Scout Dog Program and developed U.S. Army Dog Training Program for use in Vietnam. Represented U.S. Army Combat Developments Command and participated in classified assignments.
The knife and sheath have been vetted by using Mike Silvey’s book SOG Knives and More from America’s War in Southeast Asia. The female side of the keeper strap snap has the exact stamps as the SOG knife on page 55–‘…The snap on the presentation sheath is marked with Asian characters and two stars.’
The small snap on the stone pocket is marked ‘(star) HASI (star) HATO’.
There are 4 original photos of Colonel Sullivan from Vietnam in this grouping. He also included photos of himself from the early 1980’s while he was carrying this knife.

This knife is engraved ‘SGT. MARSH A. RUMSEY III 5TH SPECIAL FORCES GROUP‘. Sergeant Rumsey was a Green Beret. The reverse side of the blade is engraved ‘PROJECT PINK ROSE A-323’. Operation Pink Rose was a defoliation project in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967.
The blade measures 6″. This knife measures 10 1/2″ overall.

Nguyen Dan knives are hard to find. This is rare example–what every Vietnam knives collector is looking for in a rare Dan knife.
This Nguyen Dan variation appears in Mike Silvey’s book Knives of the United States Military in Vietnam. See pages 110 and 111. Mike writes: “Nguyen Dan was a village craftsman who made outstanding knives by hand using the most primitive tools. Every one of his knives is unique but this large knife has a most unusual blade shape.”
This Nguyen Dan knife measures a large 13 7/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 9″. The original Dan sheath has two keeper straps.

1 U.S. Marine ID’d Vietnam War ca.1967 Gerber Mark II fighting knife. This early combat knife would make an important addition to any collection.
This Gerber is serial number ‘004580’. This Mark II serial number dates this knife to 1967. The Marine etched his name on one side of the guard. It looks to read ‘D. Hirte’. The reverse side of the guard is etched ‘USMC 2182919’. This vet’s service record is researchable since his name, branch, and serial # are on his knife.
The sheath has the 2-line Gerber stamp, and the right-hand keeper strap. The sheath houses the Gerber sharpening steel.

1 vintage U.S. Vietnam War Seven Inch Recon combat knife by Japan Sword. This is one of the rarest SOG knives–arguably the rarest, as this appears to be one of the early Prototypes. Mike Silvey points out in his book SOG Knife Collector on page 13 of another seven inch recon, “A retired CIA operative brought this knife back from Vietnam. It was recognized by Ben Baker as one of a few prototypes provided during the process of selecting the seven inch recon knife.”
This rare SOG fighting knife would make an exceptional addition to any collection.
This knife came to me with no sheath.
The knife blade measures 6 7/8”. Note the zoomed in photos of the natural irregular aging striations in the white spacer below the guard.

This original, World War II Ranger knife has the visible file marks inside the handle important to identifying an authentic WW2 knife (see photos). This knife has a 6 1/4″ blade. Overall this knife measures 10 1/8″.
The leather scabbard is original, and smells like the items in my grandpa’s WW2 foot locker.

Ben Rocklin made custom fighting knives for U.S. troops during World War II. He called his double-edged combat knives ‘Stickers’. The long Rocklin knife measures 13 3/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 8 1/16″. The blade is made from an old metal file. The handle is turned.
The belt sheath has a buckle keeper strap. The back of the scabbard is marked with the soldier’s initials that carried this knife ‘CSA’.

1 rare variation U.S. World War II Shipley knife available. The more known version of the Shipley knife has a brass knuckle guard, thick brass handle spacers, and a lead pommel. That version is pictured on the back cover of Mike Silvey’s Knives of the United States Military–World War II.
This discovery of a rare Shipley knife variation would make an important addition to any collection.
Note the features common in each knife. The knife offered here is an early version–as the Shipley design was perfected. This knife has a stacked leather handle with thick brass spacers. In the later knuckle knife version, these brass spacers come out to join with a brass knuckle guard. The pommel is lead–just like on the knuckle knife. The blade too is double-edged. Later, on the knuckle knife, the blade’s center ridge line was rounded and smoothed.
This knife measures 13 3/8″ overall. The blade itself measures 9 5/16″. The knife handle is coated in varnish–for use in carry in the Pacific.
The scabbard is of high quality, and has a wire hanger. The scabbard has no Shipley markings. This knife, though, is unmistakeably a Shipley.

1 vintage U.S. World War II theater knuckle knife. This homemade WW2 combat knife has a knuckle guard with skull crusher knobs on it. This knife would make a fine addition to any collection.
The handle on this knife is formed of wood–the grip has finger-grooves. This knife is definitely theater-made.
The blade measures 6 3/4″. The knobs on the knuckle guard are each individually formed of brass. The guard is formed of a heavy gauge wire folded in two layers against itself.
The belt scabbard was made for this knife. The keeper strap is a buckle type. The keeper strap rivet is stamped ‘5 5‘.

1 vintage U.S. World War 2 theater fighting knife w/G.I. trench artwork. This fine theater knife has a trench art-engraved blade, and a scabbard that is marked with the theaters he fought in. The scabbard also shows the number of enemy kills he had. This knife would make an important addition to any collection.
This knife is a theater-modified PAL RH-36 fighting knife. The aluminum pommel was removed by the G.I., and replaced with a stag one. The blade is engraved with an artistic pattern on both sides.
The scabbard is marked ‘NEW HEBRIDES ISLANDS U.S. ARMY T.S. ROPERT(?) STOCKTON CALIF.‘.
The back of the scabbard is marked ‘GUAM ASN 3942066‘. This side of also marked with 7 hash marks–indicating 7 enemy kills.

1 desirable ID’d U.S. World War 2 theater fighting knife. The premium U.S. theater knife was carried by S/SGT Arthur Duebner. This soldier served with the First Special Service Force and later with the 82nd Airborne 504th Easy Company.
This fine theater dagger is of exceptional quality. In fact, S/SGT Duebner’s other carry knife was a fine Case V42. That knife sold, with the same vet documentation that comes with this knife, at an auction house for $10,000 in 2011.
This knife measures 11 1/8″ overall. The double-edged blade itself measures 6 3/8″. The crossguard and pommel are made of aluminum. The handle is leather. The premium metal scabbard is made of aluminum.
S/SGT Duebner’s story will come with this knife. He related his story to N.H. Stolp by hand written letter and Newspaper issue “The Medford Star” of Wed. Nov. 16th, 1994. S/SGT Duebner served in Italy, Southern France, the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe.

I have been listing a number of different variations of Kennedy Arms fighting knives–and this is the double-edged, wood handle version. A wood-handle Kennedy Arms knife would make a rare addition to any premium collection.
The blade on this fine Kennedy Arms combat knife measures 7 3/4″ long. This knife measures 12 1/4″ overall. The handle is marked ‘KENNEDY ARMS ST. PAUL‘. The original sheath is stamped ‘KENNEDY BROS. ARMS CO. ST. PAUL‘. The top of the sheath is stamped ‘227S‘ like all Kennedy sheaths are. The guard has the Kennedy stamp as well. Interestingly this knife and sheath are hand-marked ‘1071‘.

Theater knives are fighting knives made by soldiers in the field, or by craftsman here at home for soldiers. Knives made by soldiers were often made with materials that were readily available to them–like plexiglass spacers made from enemy aircraft windshields, aluminum, brass, leather, and blades or handles from Issue fighting knives.
This combat knife measures 10 5/16″ overall. The blade itself measures 6 7/16″. The blade measures 9/16″ wide. There is no scabbard with this knife.

The V-44 blade was made by Case. The blade is stamped ‘CASE XX‘. This knife measures 14 3/8″ overall. The blade itself measures 9 7/16″. This knife has an aluminum guard, and clear aircraft plexiglass handle. The tang was painted red before the plexiglass was added. The handle has a ‘U.S.’ collar badge imbedded on one side of the handle. The reverse side of the handle has another crest inlayed in it. The scabbard is original to the knife.

E.W. Stone made these knives aboard ship during World War 2. The cast aluminum handle is formed in the images of a skull and cobra. Awesome knife.
This Stone knuckle knife measures 12 1/4″ overall. The blade itself measures 6 15/16″.
This is the more rare pig-nose version of the Stone knuckle knife. On the U.S.N. MK.2 scabbard is an incredible braided leather leg tie-down. Braided into the tie-down is a gambling die. The bottom of the tie-down is held together with a Turkish knot–a knot known to seamen. The keeper strap was cut off–it wouldn’t have fit around the handle anyway.
