This IJA sword has kanji on its backstrap.  The inscription reads ‘Hosei University Preparatory Department’.  

This sword measures 32” overall.  

A sword with an inscription is found in only maybe 1 in every 150-200 IJA dress swords.

This IJA sword has kanji on its backstrap.  The inscription reads ‘Hosei University Preparatory Department’.  

This sword measures 32” overall.  

A sword with an inscription is found in only maybe 1 in every 150-200 IJA dress swords.

CONDITION:

This sword is in excellent condition.  The handle and handle wire are perfect.  Portions of the acid etch hamon are still visible on the blade.  The blade tip was reshaped some time during World War 2.
