Description
U.S. Vietnam War MACV-SOG CISO fighting knife. This desirable knife would make an important addition to any U.S. or world militaria collection.
See Michael Silvey’s book Knives of the United States Military in Vietnam for some information on this SOG model. The blade measures 5 13/16″. This knife measures 10 3/4″ overall.
The ricasso has the number ‘841’. Mike was kind to take a look at this knife. He remarked, “It is an early CISO plum SOG. The early ones (those with low numbers) were blue rather than plum. It’s the real deal. It’s also in the correct sheath but I can’t tell if the stone is correct. It should be light green and dark grey/green.” After this I sent Mike a side view photo of the sharpening stone, which I hadn’t sent earlier. All correct.
CONDITION:
This knife was carried in Vietnam. The blade was kept sharp on the stone (see the grooves on both sides of the stone). The guard is perfectly tight.
