1 Special Order Japanese WW2 sword by Tokiyoshi.  This fine antique Japanese sword would make an important acquisition for any collection.    
 

This sword bears the Special Order inscription on the nakago ‘Made for Sagawa Akita’. The sword is signed and dated by the smith ‘Yamaha Minamoto no Tomiyoshi — Spring 1890’.  

 

This is a traditionally-made sword.  This sword has very early (1936-1938) Army mounts.  Note the oversized tsuba, elongated kashira (pommel fitting), and attractive raised cherry blossom saya lock release.  

 

The blade measures 25 1/16″ (63.6cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.  As mentioned, this is a traditional blade.  

 

The slender, rather elegant sword has a suguha (straight) temper line/hamon.

CONDITION:

This sword is in excellent condition.  The blade has a couple of tiny nicks and occasional slight surface finish changes from past light oxidation.  The hamon and boshi are perfectly healthy.
