Description
French Model 1856 Carabiniers Officers Helmet with high brass two-piece skull and peaks with brass crest embossed with designs of foliage. Fitted with the original cut horsehair plume dyed red, distinctive silvered brass frontal plate embossed with branches of oak, and with applied fused grenade and crossed laurel branch badge. T’he circular brass supporters each embossed with a starburst and carrying a leather chin-strap faced in brass overlapping scales. Has a complete leather liner.
This fine French carabiniers helmet would make a rare, and important addition to any collection.
CONDITION:
Excellent. One side of the chin-strap is missing. All other pieces intact.
