1 rare Hugh Bartrug Ashley Forge knife available. A Bartrug knife doesn’t come on the public market very often. A rare opportunity for any serious dealer or collector.
This knife was one of 5 knives Hugh submitted for his ABS Mastersmith test. So very rare. Here’s an opportunity to own a piece of ABS history.
This fine knife is made of Bartrug forged damascus. He was known for his incredible skill in making damascus. He was a mentor of Rick Hinderer among others.
Hugh created a billet with letters or words embedded in the rough billet, which after forging, would have the letters (in this case ‘ABS’) or words literally embedded in the damascus–instead of being etched on the surface of the blade after forging.
Even the guard is layered.
This knife has large Mother of Pearl scales. The blade has the word ‘ABS’ embedded in the damascus in two places–each is visible from either side of the blade. Etched near the cutting edge on one side of the blade is ‘Ashley Forge‘.
This knife measures 10 5/16″ with a 5 13/16″ blade.
