Have a knife marked 'W. SCAGEL', 'HAND MADE BY   W. SCAGEL', or just 'V.L. & A.'?  Or do you have a knife with the image of a knife with a crooked blade stamped into it?  We buy knives by William Scagel. 

These knives were made in the 1920's through the 1950's in Upper Michigan.   His work inspired Bo Randall to make knives.  Many of Scagel's knives were sold through V.L.&A. out of Chicago.  He made hunting knives as well as an occasional combat knife.  His knives usually have antler (stag) handles with colored and aluminum handle spacers.  Some have a leather or bone handle with a brass guard and brass pommel end.
