1 highly collectible U.S. Vet Bringback PRESENTATION Japanese WW2 Army Officer sword. This sword would make an important addition to any collection.
This sword was presented to a U.S. Colonel. The Presentation reads 'as a souvenir to Colonel M.F. Davis, presented by Wangpin. April 1946. (Japanese sword obtained through occupying of Chefoo.).
The signed blade measures 27 1/8" (68.9 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. The saya has its original combat cover.
The handle wrap and army menuki are missing. We have original army menuki available for sale if desired. And we can refer you to a professional who can wrap the handle. The blade is in nice condition, and is in original Japanese polish. There are the usual minor scratches expected in a carried 80-year old carried WW2 katana. The saya locking mechanism works perfectly. The hamon and boshi are perfectly healthy.
The metal saya's lacquer appears to be perfect under the leather combat cover.
