1 antique traditionally-made World War II Japanese Samurai Naval Officer's gendai sword available. A WW2 Japanese Naval Officer's sword would make an important addition to any collection.
All military fittings are of excellent quality. The saya has the collector-coveted sharkskin covering. The blade measures 26 3/16" (66.3 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. The nakago/tang is signed Masayasu. The back side of the nakago is not dated.
This WW2 Navy Officer's sword has gold-gilt fittings. This sword has a fine water-tempered hamon/temper line.
The handle wrap is excellent. The sword locks in the saya, and the lock release buttons function perfectly. The sharkskin saya is excellent. There are a couple areas of mild oxidation mostly along the cutting edge. But the blade is exceptional without a polish.
The temper line and boshi are perfectly healthy. This sword is guaranteed against fatal flaws.
