1 antique World War II Japanese Samurai Army Officer's katana available. This WW2 Officer's katana is signed. This sword would make an important addition to any collection.
This is a fabulous sword for the beginning collector, or for the WW2 military collector. Very affordable. Japanese WW2 Army swords have a number of possible blade types in them. Arsenal blades, oil-tempered showato blades, gendai blades, and old family blades. This sword has an arsenal blade. Arsenal blades were not tempered--they have a cosmetic 'temper line'. This visual-only temper line was created by a polisher--imitating the cloudy 'temper line' of showato, gendai, or old family blades. Thus they are less expensive than many blades. They were during the War, and they are now.
Note that this sword was never messed with by a collector or dealer. The seppa (spacers), tsuba (guard), and the nakago are marked with the arabic number '7'--showing that all spacers are present, and no parts have been added or subtracted from this sword. It is just as it was brought back from the War.
All military fittings are of the highest quality. The blade measures 26 1/4" (66.7 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.
This sword is in exceptional condition! This sword was stored well in the 80 years since the World War 2. The blade has only the expected light staining present in an 80-year old WW2 Japanese katana.
This Japanese Army Officer's sword would make an important addition to any collection.
