All military fittings are of excellent quality. This sword has a fine sharkskin saya/scabbard. The blade measures 25 7/8" (65.7 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. The nakago/tang is unsigned. The tang has the stamped assembly number '318'.
This WW2 Navy Officer's sword has gold-gilt fittings. The tsuba and seppa have the same matching assembly numbers as on the tang '318'--along with one Japanese character.

This vintage Japanese WW2 Samurai Army Officer's sword is in exceptional condition. The blade is perfectly straight. The blade has no visible nicks--just an occasional nail catcher-type nick that can be felt when pulling the cutting edge along a fingernail. The tsuka wrap is in perfect condition. The sword fits perfectly in the saya. The sharkskin saya is in beautiful condition. The Officer's tassel is nearly perfect with just two small strands cut of the 100 or so strands. The tassel displays beautifully.
