1 vintage U.S. World War 2 Western L77 Stiletto fighting knife. This desirable U.S. fighting knife would make an important addition to any collection.
This Western L77 Stiletto fighting knife has the very rare, highly collectible hanger-type sheath. The Marine Corps officer who carried this knife marked his name on the front of the scabbard 'LT. E.J. BECKER'. The back of the scabbard is also stenciled with his name.
The collector who I bought this knife from obtained the Officer's service record through the U.S. Freedom of Information Act. The Officer was an aviator who was killed during an attack on the island of New Britain. The Officer's service record will, of course, accompany this knife.
The knife's blade tang is stamped 'WESTERN BOULDER, COLO. PAT.NO.1,967,479'. This knife measures 11 1/4" overall. The blade itself measures 6 15/16" to the guard. The pommel and guard on this knife are made of orange bakelite.
This exceptional WW2 Western L77 stiletto is in beautiful condition. This knife was carried, but still has its original factory edge. The stacked leather handle, the guard, and pommel are all in perfect condition. The rare hanger Western scabbard is in exceptional condition.
The listing represents a rare opportunity to purchase a highly collectible ID'd, documented Western L77 Stiletto fighting knife with rare Western hanger-type sheath for your collection.
