This early War variation Kabar has a thin, peened pommel. This variation also has a thick red spacer, and thin black spacer, next to the guard.
The blued blade on this desirable Kabar measures 7". The knife is marked 'KA-BAR OLEAN, N.Y.' on the front tang. The reverse tang is stamped 'U.S.M.C.'.
This knife was carried during the War, and is in amazing condition! The blade has a good 50% of its original blued finish. The original grind lines are clearly visible on the blade. There is scattered minor surface type pitting on the blade. What a beautiful knife. The scabbard is excellent.
