1 exceedingly rare antique World War II Japanese Territory katana. This rare WW2 Japanese Mongol Military Government sword would make an important addition to any collection.
Photos 4 & 5 above are images from Jim Dawsens book. These images show that this sword is a textbook example of the Mongol Military Government sword.
All military fittings are of excellent quality. Note the unique horizontal stripes on the flag cantons on the backstrap. As well as the rare Mongol symbol on the backstrap ears and backstrap.
The blade measures 25 3/8" (64.5 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. This sword has a traditional nihonto blade.
It's not known whether this sword is signed. It looks like years ago someone took off the pommel nut--but the scratch marks on the brass created by removing the nut have patinated since then, so I don't want to create bright new marks on the nut to find out.
This antique WW2 Japanese Mongol Military Government sword is in excellent condition. There are zero nicks in the blade edge. The blade was polished about 20 years ago, and so is in almost perfect condition. The blade is perfectly straight. The saya lock functions perfectly. The saya has some more minor pitting.
This exceedingly rare WW II Japanese Mongol Military Government sword would make an important addition to any collection.
