1 antique Japanese Samurai wakizashi sword with hard-to-find folded-over signature available. This desirable sword would make an important addition to any collection.
The tang/nakago on this tanto has a rare folded-over signature. It's a folded-over inlay--which is a much more difficult signature inlay. Very hard to find. This sword is signed 'Nagamitsu'. A board member of the U.S. branch of the NBTHK said this should be Mino Akasaka Senjuen Nagamitsu.
The blade measures 14 5/16" (36.4 cm) from blade tip to the habaki. This sword has an early sugata/shape.
This sword has a Silver and Gold gilt habaki (Gold at the munemachi and hamachi). The koshirae are fine black lacquer over wood. The Silver menuki are Samurai clan mon.
This vintage Japanese Samurai sword is in good original Japanese polish. The hamon/temper line and boshi are perfect. There are no ware openings of any kind on this sword. There is a tiny chip at the sword tip, but there is plenty of distance between the boshi and the kissaki edge. This sword is guaranteed against fatal flaws of any kind. The lacquer on the koshirae is quite nearly perfect. I recommend taking this sword to Shinsa--it is healthy, unique, and of exceptional quality.
This Japanese Samurai sword, with its very rare folded-over inlayed signature, would make an important addition to any collection.
