This 19th century German hunting sword/knife is of exceptional quality. The grip is of carved ebony wood. The clamshell, crossguard, and pommel are decorated with cherubs. Some very fine carving is showcased on this sword. See the detail displayed in photo 9.
This sword measures 27 1/2" long. There is no scabbard with this hunting sword. The double-fullered blade itself measures 22" long.
This antique 1800's A.D. German hunting sword is in beautiful condition. The ebony grip is quite perfect--which is wonderful for a sword this old. The sword blade has very little oxidation. The blade is straight, with only an occasional nick. The clamshell has 2 super short hairline cracks just along the outer rim. The handle, guard, clamshell are tight with no looseness or wiggle.
