1 Japanese World War II Navy Officer's kai gunto sword available. This IJN Officer's sword was made by (Ido) Hidetoshi. This Japanese sword would make an important addition to any collection.
The oil-tempered blade measures 24 13/16" (65.6 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine.
The tsuka has rayskin under the silk wrap. This IJN kai-gunto sword has a black lacquer saya.
Note the outer seppa is marked with the Naval anchor stamp, and 'T.E.C.' (likely a sword company).
A photo of the page on Hidetoshi from John Slough's book An Oshigata Book for Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945 is provided above.
The oil-tempered blade has darkened with age. The mounts are in clearly excellent condition. With the blade darkening, an opportunity to pick up a World War 2 Naval Officer sword for less.
