1 premium Japanese Naval Officer's gendai kai-gunto available. This WW2 gendaito was made by the highly ranked smith, Ikkansai Shigemasa. Shigemasa was ranked 2 Million Yen in John Slough's book An Oshigata Book of Modern Japanese Swordsmiths 1868-1945. Two full pages are dedicated to Shigemasa in Slough's book.
This sword is water-tempered. The hamon is choji midare. The blade nagasa (cutting edge) measures 24 13/16".
There are some dings in the saya lacquer. The blade has no edge nicks--at all. The kissaki is its original full length. There are a few spots of spider rust on the blade--but they aren't any bid deal. The blade can easily be appreciated as it presently is. Or, if desired, polish can be arranged for $1000 at buyer's expense.
(If paying via credit card or PayPal, 4% credit card/PP fee added to purchase price).
